The Atom Ones!!

I just recieved my new skates today. On them included the Atom Ones. A very popular outdoor wheel by Atom Wheels. I got the green hub wheels. They are mostly used for grip. And they do thier job extremely well. They are good on concrete as well as asphault. I would highly recommend these for anyone who likes the outdoors!! They come in 100mm and 110mm sizes! The turning and cornering were incredibly easy. no sliding on any surface.

Let me know what you think about these wheels...
Any questions or comments!! =]

Bones Bearings Presents...

Every one in the speed skating community is familiar with The Bones Skate Bearing Brand. Most popular are the Swiss. and the most popular bearing in the world "China Reds."

Many people believe the more you pay for bearings then the better they are. China reds are a spectacular bearing for any skater. They are in expensive. and a better quality than Abec rated. They are "Skate" rated. All bearings do the same thing. Just like tires on a car. There are many brands. That all serve the same purpose. The skater determines how well they perform. If you keep em' clean and well lubed then they will last for a while. But some times new arrivals to the skate scene show that they are better no matter what.

Bones has released 2 new bearings. The Bones Super Reds. They are a more finely polished Reds bearing. These bearings average around $25 for a box of 8.
Ceramic ball bearings are a very piopular brand. but are out of reach for many skaters. Prices averaging around $140 for a box of 8 Bones Ceramics.

But because of the immense popularity of the Reds. They decided to produce a product for half the price of regular ceramics. But with the Reds great name. The Bones Ceramic Super Reds!!

They are a water proof. With greater acceleration than Reds. And these are much more affordable!! at only $75 for a box of 8!!!! Be sure to puick these up!!

09' Boots

The biggest seller of this year has to be the 09' Challenge from Luigino. Available in black and white!! But the very popular attitude is back with the 09'. Lots of people own the victory! Well they have just released the newest edition that is a must have for any skater. Powerslide not wanting to be left out of the pro circuit. Has released 3!! new boots for this season!!

I asked I polled the people i knew who owned them and got a real positive word back on them.

"Well I still skate on the 09 challenge and I love it. it has the new bare foot technology allowing you to feel great while not wearing socks. it also can be heat molded in the oven making a great custom fit. I love the boot. I have only had to send them back once cause the bolt box on the boot cracked. luigino had it back to me within a week so I could get ready for nationals."

100mm Vs. 110mm Frames and wheels!!

There has been speculation that maybe skating on 110mm frames may be a hassle. as opposed to skating on 100mm frames. Many experts are quoted as saying "its heavier and much more bulky." It might slow you down rather than speed you up!!

I skate on 100mm and have never owned any over that. Though I have skated 110mm.

So I asked a close friend of mine what it was like to skate and race on 110mm frames.

"I don't know everything about skating but I know a lot from skating in meets. I like the 110mm frame like most skaters cause they cause you to have more roll and to be able to last longer. they are a lot faster also. I like to wear my fav wheels to which are 110mm black hub whips." -Colby Crowder-
And most skaters will tell you this exactly. There is more floor coverage by larger wheels. Creating less resistance and greater floor roll! You'll roll longer and with less effort.

World Inline Cup (WIC)

Considering the elements it was impressive the race still ended in a massive field sprint with Yann of France (Black Uniform) making his move past Joey Mantia (Blue uniform) with only 50 meters before the finish. Mantia underestimated the conditions making his move with 800 meters to go. Rain was an equalizer at this event, creating a huge upset in the overall standings after a number of skaters crashed including Diego Rosero (Team Rollerblade). His entire team worked fiercely to bring him back to the pack but he was not able to re-establish his position with the main pack.

First and Foremost!!

The creation of this blog came about for the sole purpose of telling the world about the wonderful sport of speed skating. Not only Inline. But also Ice skating. From a friendly neighborhood rink to the Winter olympics!! Speed skating is for everyone. Not just good athletes. Anyone can do it. And you dont have to be the fastest or the best. Do it because you want to have fun! I want to encourage children. And parents of the children. You dont have to be a kid to enjoy it. This is a sport for all ages!! And for the athletes that are blessed to have the talents and skill to skate professionally. Continue what you are doing! You are all inspirations. =]
